Why we're
building Preznt.

An outdoor ceremony where guests are fully present

The best moments of our lives keep happening in rooms full of people who are somewhere else.

Our phones are the best tools we've ever carried. They get us home, keep us in touch, hold our whole lives in a pocket. And in the middle of a wedding, a first dance, a toast, a quiet dinner — they pull us away from the exact thing we came to be part of.

We noticed it most at the moments that only happen once. A couple walks down the aisle, and half the room is watching through a small glowing rectangle instead of with their own eyes. Everyone means well. Nobody decided to miss it. The phone just wins, quietly, the way it always does.

The obvious fixes don't work. You can't take someone's phone — they might need it. You can't force it off — and you shouldn't. And telling a room to "please silence your phones" has never once made anyone present. Presence can't be taken. It can only be chosen.

So we built Preznt around the choice. When you arrive at an event, you decide to set your distracting apps aside for a while. Your calls and your essentials stay with you. And when the moment's over, everything comes back on its own — nothing to undo, nothing to remember. No one's watching you, no one's controlling your phone. You simply chose to be here, and the room gets to feel it.

We think the best thing a phone can do, sometimes, is get out of the way. That's the whole idea.
